Introduction
What SetStage is, and how a show runs from Ableton Live to the stage.
SetStage is a Mac app for running Ableton Live setlists on stage. It reads your songs and sections from Live’s Arrangement, shows them as one list, and lets you play, pause, jump and mix the show without touching Live’s own window.
The three parts
- SetStage, the Mac app you perform from.
- SetStageRemote, a small Remote Script that lets Live talk to SetStage. The app installs it for you.
- SetStage Remote, an optional iPhone and iPad app that controls the Mac over your local network.
How a show runs
- Mark each song, and its sections, with locators in Live’s Arrangement.
- Install the Remote Script and choose it in Live’s preferences.
- Open your set. SetStage lists its songs as soon as Live connects.
- Select a song, press Play, and run the show from SetStage or from your phone or iPad.
Everything stays on your Mac
SetStage does not use the internet, has no account, and sends no data anywhere. Your songs come from Ableton. Notes, colours, set order and per-song settings are stored in a project file on your Mac.
