Pair your iPhone or iPad

Connect SetStage Remote to the Mac over the venue Wi-Fi.

SetStage Remote finds your Mac over the venue or studio Wi-Fi. It does not create a network of its own, and both devices must be on the same one.

On the Mac

  1. Open SetStage, then Settings, then Remote.
  2. Choose Allow Pairing for 5 Minutes. SetStage shows a countdown and a QR code. Close ends pairing early.

On the iPhone or iPad

  1. Open SetStage Remote.
  2. Choose Scan QR Code and scan the code on the Mac. That connects and pairs in one step.
  3. Or choose your Mac from the list and type the pairing code, which looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

The first time is a one-time step. You will not need the code again unless you remove the pairing or reinstall the app. Pairing stays open for five minutes, or until one device pairs.

If the Mac is not listed

Use the manual fallback and enter the Mac’s local IP address or host name, and the port. Do not use 127.0.0.1, which only ever points back at the device itself.

Afterwards

  • A paired device reconnects on its own.
  • Settings, Remote lists your devices as Connected or Paired. Choose Revoke to remove one.
  • Generate New Code replaces the pairing code.
  • Traffic is encrypted after pairing, and the pairing code never travels over the network.
