MIDI control

Run the show from a pad controller or footswitch.

Map a MIDI note, control change or program change to a control in SetStage.

Choose an input

In Settings, MIDI, choose the Input source, or leave it on All MIDI Inputs. Last MIDI and Events received show whether SetStage is hearing your controller.

Map a control

  1. Choose the MIDI tab in the navigation bar, or turn on MIDI Map Mode in Settings, MIDI.
  2. Click the control you want to map: one of the four transport buttons, or any song in the setlist.
  3. Choose Learn. It reads “Listening…” while it waits.
  4. Press the pad or move the control on your controller. SetStage shows what it captured.
  5. Choose Save. If that message is already mapped, SetStage tells you what it controls, and you can choose Replace.
  6. Choose Done when you have finished.

Clear removes a mapping. You can also enter a message by hand and choose Save Manual. A control change fires when its value rises past its threshold, so a fader will not fire repeatedly as it moves.

What you can map

  • Play / Pause
  • Stop
  • Previous Song and Next Song
  • Any individual song, to jump straight to it

Global and project mappings

Mappings are global by default, so they work in every project. A mapping can also belong to one project. A project can switch off a global mapping for itself and restore it later, without affecting other projects. Settings, MIDI shows how many of each you have, and Open List opens the MIDI Mappings window, where Disable and Restore live. Reset Project Overrides undoes a project’s changes.
